144 MahJongg tiles.

12 winds (3 of each wind) rank low, no suit.

The tiles 1-9 of the 3 suits (Bamboos, Characters, Circles), 4 of each rank.

12 seasons (3 of each) rank high, no suit.

12 dragons (4 of each) no rank (wild), no suit.

Object

To play all the tiles to the pyramid.

Layout

stock pile (far left, face down) - tiles from the stock automatically fill spaces in the reserves.
9 reserve piles (to right of stock) - each tile is available for play on the Pyramid, tiles removed from the reserve piles are automatically replaced from the stock, so that 9 tiles are always available.
Pyramid - (right side, begins empty) -  the pyramid consists of a 9x9 square grid on the lowest level without the 4 corners (level 1), a 7x7 square grid above level 1 centered without the 4 corners (so that only 1 tile of edges on each side of level 1 show below level 2), a 5x5 square grid centered without the 4 corners as level 3, and a single 1x1 tile in the center as level 4. There are 144 total possible positions for tiles.

Play

The game begins with the entire pyramid empty.

One tile is selected from the reserves and played to the center position of the Pyramid, the only available spot in the Pyramid at the start of the game.  This is the starter tile.  Once the starter tile is placed, 5 new positions in the Pyramid are created on the 4 sides and on top of the starter tile.

A tile can be played into the Pyramid adjacent to another tile if it is up or down in rank and of different suit than the adjacent tile.  For example, a 4 of circles can be played next to a 5 of bamboos.   A tile can only be played on top of another tile if it follows the above rule and tiles have been played to all 4 side positions of the tile.

Winds are low - a wind may be played next to a 1 or a season.
Seasons are high - a season may be played next to a 9 or a wind.
Dragons are wild - anything may be played next to a dragon.

Each tile has at most 5 positions adjacent to it (diagonal is not considered adjacent, but on top of the tile is adjacent - however, you can only play to the top position if all 4 of the other positions have been filled).  If it is on the edge of the Pyramid it may have fewer adjacent positions.

When playing a tile to an empty space there may be several tiles already in place adjacent to it, it need only fit the rules for one of them to be played (it doesn't have to fit the rules for all of the other existing adjacent tiles, just one of them).

Whenever a tile is played to the pyramid from the reserves, another tile is dealt from the stock to the empty spot in the reserves so that the reserves always contain 9 tiles.

History

This game is just like Pyramid Of Wild Dragons except that Winds and Seasons are consecutive.  This makes it easier than Pyramid Of Wild Dragons.
